The Department of School Education Government of Telangana 

The Department of School Education, Government of Telangana State will be conducting the Telangana TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) for the first time since the bifurcation of the state from Andhra Pradesh. The exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 1.


The exam will be conducted in all 10 districts of the state for all  those who intend to be teachers for Classes 1 to 8 in schools. According the official notification, there are 1069 vacancies.
The test (TS TET) will have two papers, paper 1 and paper 2. The candidates who intend to be teachers for Classes 1 to 5 have to appear for paper 1 and those who intend to be teachers for Classes 6 to 8 have to appear for paper 2. Those who intend to be teachers for all the classes are required to appear for both the papers.

The TET is mandatory for anyone who wishes to work as a teacher under the government.


Cut off percentage

General category: 60 percent or aboveBackward classes: 50 percent or aboveSC/ST/differently-abled: 40 percent or aboveThe TET certificate will be valid for a period of seven years from the date of examination as per NCTE guidelines.



How to apply

Interested candidates can apply online at tstet.cgg.gov.in for the examination in the prescribed format as given in the official notification.

Important date:

The last date for submission of application is March 31.

SIET, Hyderabad was established in 1985 with cent percent financial assistance from Govt. of India, New Delhi as a Production Centre of Educational Television and Radio Programmes in regional language (Telugu) for school children in the age group of 5 to 14 years. The main objectives of the Institute is to (i) to assist the Department of School Education in Implementation of Educational Policies and Programmes both in Formal and Non-formal sectors and ​(ii) to undertake all activities which may seem appropriate for furtherance of above objective.​​It is a unitary organization and does not have any offices in any part of the State. Department of School Education in Government of Telangana are providing budget for salaries of the staff, whereas, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India is providing budget for programme production activities.
